Default Top 5 suggestions for future Expansion Packs

These are my top five suggestions for future things that might be good to see or have happen in GW when they do expansion packs. Feel free to comment (no flamers). State your opinion what you think or what you remove and add in one of the other places.

5) How about different races. I know this will make many of the dedicated PvP players upset. It would create a shift in balance if they made races with different attributes. But hey even if they kept it simple and decided well lets not ruin PvP and make balance issues, at least we could get some different races with no attributes so we're not all humans. I wouldn't mind seeing some dwarves or elves or something else. I think it would only help the game.

4) New jobs. I do not think it is absolutely necessary at this point and time, but I think it is inevitable that they will eventually have to add a few new jobs. Trick is they'll have to be very careful so they create a job that works well and is still balanced with the current jobs.

3) I'd like to see a lot more armor. I don't mind having to gather materials to craft stuff, that works fine. Some of the armors look nice too. I think it would be nice to see some armor drop from enemies (other than shields). I just thinking having random armors drop with or without mods from mobs would be good. They could always make mob armor drops normal armor with a variation in Armor rating, then if you want better armor or to upgrade it take it to the crafter. Just some thoughts and ideas. Eventually again we will need to get more armor in the game some day.

2) Finding parties. Right now the system works ok. You can sit and shout, watch people shout, hope to find what you need. Wouldn't hurt to be able to show somehow that you want to quest/mission/xp/just flat out kill/solo with some sort of icons or symbols to have next to your name. If GW had this and maybe a way to search for jobs or by levels I think that would work. Then you could go off and do your thing while you waited for a party. Not sure how searching would work since they have multiple districts but it's an idea.

1) AUCTION HOUSE --- Nothing can top the reality that this game needs some sort of trading system. I know they had good intentions allowing you to check/uncheck Local, Trading, Team, etc. to reduce spamming. Fact of the matter is even if you don't mind turning them on and off when you're looking for something you still need to sort through all the spam to find things you need or want to sell. Give us a freaking AH or something that reduces if not destroys all those spams. Not to mention how time consuming it can be sometimes. *and no I do not want to go online to different website to find items. Time consuming and a hassle to list items you want to sell and find items you want to buy.

I'm sure the Dev's have already thought of the ideas or heard them. I tend to have faith in dev's for games until they completely ruin them, which doesn't happen in every game. But I just figured I'd list my top 5 that I would like to see. I figure other people may have some other ideas that are similar if not better. Thanks for the tip maybe sometime if I get it I'll glance over at GW site.

great ideas also I would like to add a couple more

Stylelist === NPC that allows you to change haircuts, dying hair and facial features for a certain amount of gold

Mounts === Each class would have some kind of mount which would add another dimension to the game........mayble also add some mini games with the mounts e.g racing with other players for different prizes

Set Items === Implement Set Items that can either be collected from certain Collectors or Monster drops.........through the completion of the set you gain a special attribute in regards to that set

Bars! There are no bars! I can't believe it! No Adventurer's Inn, no alehouses anywhere. The first thing I did when I went into the game was to look for a tavern. Couldn't find any. Why? There aren't any. For expansion packs, how about a bar or two?

how about weather, it might be need to be more of a spell, or hex if it hinders or helps you, but visualy it would be nice to see random things in instances in stead of the old scriped ones.

also how about terrane altering spells, or monsters, or the ability to target big rocks and bridges, if the world is instanced, then we could do whatever we want with it.

Here are some things I would like to have implemented:

- Speaking channels with radius:
Add a "Talk" channel with a range of a certain radius from the speaker. This means that three or more people can speak to each other in a corner of Ascalon city, and people in other areas of the city (still the same zone) wouldn't hear it. That way you could have a way for people to talk together without spamming the rest of the city, and you wouldn't hear it unless you were close. And if you wanted to join in, you could still do so by walking closer to the talking group. See Neverwinter Nights if you want to see what I mean. The "All"-channel could be called "Yell" or "Shout", and reach the whole area, and then you can filter it out if you want, and still talk to whoever is close by with the new "Talk" channel.

- Examine-infomation:
The right mouse button isn't used to anything (by default) when you try to right click on someone. It would be nice if they added a way to examine items, creatures, NPCs and players by right clicking on them. Information could range from history of a magical item for items, what kind of monster you're looking at, to what a person looks and behave like (nervous, angry, old, young) for NPCs, and a description players can give themselves for player characters (what guild you're a member of or whatever, or a physical description or background if you like to roleplay).

- Walk:
A way to assign walking speed to a character. This could be easily done, I can imagine, since I've seen walking monsters, NPCs, and players when affected by a slow effect. This could be a toggle button, or an assigned button. Walking speed is good for when you want an overview of the area while moving slowly forward, instead of running in small bursts. Also, bad ass heroes look cooler when they walk slowly and not run around like little girls from merchant to merchant...

- Clothes:
Part of this has been mentioned before, and I would like a higher degree of customisation for clothes, robes and armor. It should also be possible to colour each individual shade of the clothes. Now you can only colour a small part of the robe, and the grey part can't be changed. It would also be nice to have regular clothes with no properties for off duty strolls in the city or the guild halls. This could range from simple clothes to begin with, to noble-like clothes later in the game when you've become this mighty hero. That way you don't have to look the same all the time. And people like to get out of their armor from time to time. Just look at the naked people dancing all over the place..........

- Houses:
Would be nice to have some open houses. Especially taverns! And temples. And with the "Talk" channel I suggested above, you can talk to those inside the building (and people listening just outside the door maybe) without people hearing you all over the city. No need to make houses into their own zones for a small group to have a friendly conversation.

- Stealth and invisibility:
It's pretty hard to walk around and enjoy the scenery since all the wilderness areas are CRAWLING with monsters. So it would be nice to have some kind of invisibility spell or something to get past the larger groups of monsters for some professions at least. And maybe the ranger could have a skill that let him sneak around unnoticed for a while as well. And I bet this would add a new degree to tactics and PvP. There must be a counter for it as well.

That's all for now.

Casino.

So long as the odds are slightly in the house's favor or it is player v. player so that the game itself puts up no money, this will not destroy the economy.

Maybe even have a way for players or teams to bet against each other in the arenas. Again, if all money comes from the players, the economy will not be ruined.

Poppinjay

P.S. I would also put in some high cost luxury items that perhaps give very minor advantages to guilds. The reason why is this: The economy in most games like this gets ruined. This is not always/only because of duping bugs (which GW doesn't seem to have! Hoo-ray! This is the least buggy online game I have ever played). Anyway, the reason why is because people run out of things to spend money on. This makes it hard for newbies who just bought the game and are coming in late, after say a year or so into it. It also has a tendency to ruin things all the way around.

Here are some ideas:

Hero Statues: You can make staues of yourself or somebody else in your guild or one of several possible monument shapes in several dedicated places. Guild halls of course, but also perhaps an area of land outside of ascalon city that is designed to show off monuments, and used to help recruit new guild members by showing off the wealth and power of the guild.

Allow statues to be made any size (so long as it doesn't cause a fault) with the price going up by the volume of the "box" it will occupy. Some of the cost might be paid in materials, because there is an economy of materials as well.

Once can allow for other monuments as well---some of which will only unlock for a guild when they reach a certain level of success.

Monuments can have some purchaseable bells and whistles as well, such as showing the number of people in the guild, who is on, their current rank, an engraving for passers by, etc.

Some extreme monuments might be called "wonders". Allow players to by a plot for their monument and then place any series of objects in that space they want. Rangers could build gardens for example, whith several types of hedges and plants and animals populating them. Allow people to put together walls, roofs, and ceilings and set up lighting fixtures, etc. Just let them stack several types of blocks together.

Some of these are getting more and more complex, but the basic monument idea would not be that difficult to put in.

And perhaps guilds can choose to risk "pride" in a contest by putting their monuments up against each other for destruction or possession.

Of course monuments are not the only possible luxury to help maintain the economy, but I think they would be a good one. One could perhaps add in watch towers, etc, that have some limited functionality game-wise.

FRIENDS CHAT CHANNEL:
It would be nice to have a tab for a chat channel that allows speaking to everyone on your "Friends" list at the same time. If they did not have you on their list for some reason, they would get "Whispers".
(Naturally Ignore would block unwanted Whispers.)

Very useful for cross Guild discussions.

AUDIBLE WHISPER ALERT:
I don't know how many times I've missed a Whisper in the flow of chat when not expecting one.

I've been thinking on this concept too and I think the devs are underestimating the flexibility of the district system. I kind of got the idea from the RP district threads but I think ANet should come up with specialised districts.
My idea for a trader's district would be to allow people to set up stands to sell items (just like several other people have suggested) much like other games. Or - I just came up with this one while typing this - rental spaces. In ROSE Online you had to be online to run a shop and it helped a bit, even if there always was a blinding number of shops near every town entrance. People could purchase rental time on a stand from a Flea Market Registrar in the trader's districts. Either prepay it or just charge it by the hour. When time runs up on the prepay, their shop simply closes (maybe some cool little NPC comes up and puts a CLOSED sign on the stand ). The devs would have to be careful about the rates or it could cause trading prices to skyrocket though... Maybe like 100g/hour to make it more market-like where people offer a variety of items instead of just one at a time for ridiculous prices. It'd be nice to be able to set up a shop while I'm offline because right now I'm having trouble trading off half my storage space worth of weapon upgrades.

That is actually a nice idea.

Instead of calling all districts by number, there could be a Roleplay district, a Trade district and whatever else is needed.

I haven't been through the whole game, as matter of fact still working my way through the missions, but one thing I hadn't heard of and want to add some diversity to the game are night maps, where the whole zone is dark under a starry sky.

First of all, an Auction House is the epiphamy of poor economy in a game, this is not real money, and players CANNOT control thier spending, making prices outragious. The current system allowing players to trade directly is much more realistic/friendly, because it prevents players from demanding unfair prices for items, players have to personally barter with thier consumer in order to trade, giving the consumer some direct power. Furthermore, this game makes it so easy to to attain all of the best items and gear that it is unneccissary to implement an auction house. Players do not depend on eachother to create unlimited amounts of products out of unlimited types of crafting materials, all materials are relitively easy to obtain, and armors are crafted by NPCs.

Second, The monsters should not drop wearable gear. Just like real life, Armor is no good unless it is tailored to your physic, and this is stated by one of the crafters, wearing whatever you pick up of of monsters that are not even shaped like you (let alone your own build/stucture) is unrealistic. This game includes very realistic attire, Job Class, and background set in a fantasy world, they don't have dozens of armors that can fit midgets and giants alike, outside of weapons and shields which you simply wield in your hand, you shouldn't be able to pick up any kind of useable equiptment from enemies, you pick up thier equiptment then salvage the materials and make your own, just like real life.

Trade channel is great, that way you can overlook trade messages when your not looking for trades, otherwise people would be making trades over the say channel, and you would have to discern between comments your interested in when your looking for something other then trades.

Ingenious...... how did you overlook that?

I definately agree with the stylist npc, but this deserves special attention. How is it possible that there aren't mounts already?

Perhaps they're worried about people speeding past creeps? That's why I want a mount! Perhaps as an end-game reward?

I'd like to add (I already did in my own thread)

Spyglass === to see far away from you, perhaps adjusting the distance you can look.

They already do that, an' its annoynig... An actual "auction" auction system (where you dont know the price its actually sold for, you put in a bid of what you think its worth) could work a little nicer, nothing like the current "seller npc" system. That would be bad.

Let's say, Longsword 8-14 (+10% over 50%) is placed in the AH by Billy Jole for a minimum bid of 150 gold, and an auto-buy bid of 300 gold. They check a box stating "After 3 days, sell to bidder that is above" and they place 100 in the box. Or for the sake of time, within 5 hours ending at 11 pm tonight. Up to them. Here are a few scenarios.

Jom Bobo goes to the AH, looks up "swords" and browses around for a longsword. He sees Billy's sword, and bids 400 gold. He takes it automatically because it was over 300 gold.

Hado Kunokone goes to the AH, looks whats there, and finds Billy's sword. She's interested, but puts in a bid for the heck of it. She bids 80 gold. She will never get the sword, and her money is returned to her when the auction ends.

Tim Buck Two, Mujo Masher, and FFFERR IP go to bid at the AH. FFFERR IP bids 200 gold on the sword. Mujo, bids 169, all they had. And Tim bids 70 gold. Tim will not get it, nor will mujo. When the auction ends, FFFERR will get the item.

Now, say the players can withdraw a bet at anytime. Should FFFERR withdraw his bet, that leaves Mujo as the winner.

In addition to this, each item up for bid could have a commentary box for use by the submiter. If so desired, the commenter could list the prices they have placed in the window, or further advertisements for their own items.

As well, items could be placed on the AH for "trade" not for sale. They could not be bid on, but instructions could be left for those that wish the item, and have the items the submitter desires. (this in particular can obviously be done hands on just as easily, too)

Players could of course, update their bids too.

Spam makes people annoyed. Annoyed people can turn into mad people. I'd rather not see this game turn into the atmosphere of D2 if you know what I mean.

More about the districts... for the European districts, maybe one could be called German and French, since alot of people from Germany and France seems to be unable to speak english, and can then more easily be able to find other people that can only speak German or French.

(I am not from an english speaking country myself, but I refrain from speaking my own language in an online community like GW as I think it's rude to do so in front of people that do not understand it, and thus I speak english. But this is a suggestion for people unable to speak english, and to help them get more enjoyment out of the game and at the same time spare the rest of us the "spamming" in a foreign language, because I assume that they would speak english in public channels if they knew how to. right?)

The ability to group friends; this is probably best combined with Greentongues suggestion of being able to talk to all friends at once. A simple way of grouping contacts into groups, and being able to talk to all of them at once etc.
